Zonta: 'We are on the pace'
The Reiter Lamborghini No.25 of Ricardo Zonta and Rafael Daniel topped the time sheets in this afternoon's pre-qualifying session at Paul Ricard Circuit with a time of 2:04.922.
The Brazilian pairing set the quickest time of the day, just 0.6 seconds quicker than Frenchman Frederic Makowiecki's time set in this morning's Free Practice session.
"The last time I drove the GT1 car was in Abu Dhabi and I am very happy to be to be back with the team," Zonta said. "The session went well today and the team are doing a great job and our other drivers have improved their pace.
"Of course the races are very demanding and we have pit stops and driver changes to contend with. We need a good and consistent car for both the Qualifying Race and the Championship Race."
The second Reiter Engineering Lamborghini of Peter Kox and Christopher Haase was second fastest, with a best lap of 2:05.077.
Kox added: "I think it was a good session for us because we were on the pace. We worked on some set-up changes on the car ready for the races. We have the performance now so let's hope we can get into Q3. Let's see how it goes for the first race."
Michael Bartels and Andrea Bertolini, driving the No.1 Vitaphone Racing Maserati set the third fastest time of 2:05.157 to keep in sight of the two Lamborghini's heading into tomorrow morning's Qualifying session.
Tomorrow's qualifying session takes place at 10:45 local time and will be shown live at GT1TV.
